Historic grandeur, ecological value
The gardens of Poelwijk have been listed with the Nederlandse Tuinenstichting since 2017 and can be visited by appointment. They offer a rare combination of historic grandeur and ecological value.
For more than forty years the gardens have been worked without pesticides or artificial fertiliser. With many hedges, unusual fruit trees, hundreds of shrubs and more than a hundred tree species, a living landscape has emerged.
On the dike side, nature forms an organised wilderness. Dozens of sitting places, each with a different view of the estate, invite you to forget the time for a while.
A different estate every season
From magnolias in spring to pumpkins in autumn: Poelwijk changes all year round.
Spring
Magnolias in front of the house, blossom in the orchards and the first butterflies on the meadow.
Summer
Full hedges, the herb garden in flower and shady seats along the moat.
Autumn
Harvest of apples, pears, walnuts and pumpkins; the chestnut avenue turns gold.
Winter
Silence, morning mist between the old trees and the wood stove in the greenhouse.

Poelwijk is a private estate and a home. Visits are always by appointment.

The moat and pond are not fenced off; children only under supervision.
No pets
Because of the birds and small livestock, dogs are not allowed.
